Asylum seekers, refugees, homeless transgender people...
For the
last few months, we have been professionalising our reception activity
for
migrants, asylum seekers and LGBT + refugees.
In September, we attended
the conference "religion
and society", organized by the European
Commission in Brussels, to discuss national and international public
policies
in this matter.
These affect the fate of
LGBT + individuals, who migrate forced, to seek refuge in Europe
where their fundamental rights are protected, where they can find
inclusive
religious communities, who do not judge them on the basis of their
gender.
We were also present at the
United Nations seminar, on the same theme, organized in collaboration
with our
partner networks: MPV (Muslim for Progressive Values) and GIN (Global
Interfaith Network).

We had the pleasure to
launch this year the third level of our training
dedicated to progressive imam-as from Europe and elsewhere:
This year we had the
pleasure to welcome a young woman of Congolese and Cameroonian origin,
who
experienced many difficulties in Paris where she lived several weeks in
the
street because of the rejection of her family, before finding her
again. way.
It is now following level III of our courses, in coordination with the
University of Aix-Marseille.
In Paris, we also had the
honor to participate in the revitalization of our movement, thanks to
our
sister association VIE (Path for an enlightened Islam), which again
holds
weekly meetings, inclusive, of prayers and meditations. A hundred
participants
were present that day.

Our
latest book,
collaboration with Amsterdam University
A Study of Scripture
Confronting the Politics of Gender and Sexuality:
Ludovic-Mohamed Zahed
proposes to summarize here the Islamic scriptural sources relating to
the
question of the diversity of (human) nature(s), genders, and
sexualities. Thus,
through an approach that is certainly more politically engaged than
that of
most Islamic thinkers of our time, I clarify certain theological
notions that
may seem hermetic for the uninitiated. He often encouters people-be
they
personally concerned or not by this question-who have heard so much
about the
subject that they want to have a clearer understanding of the question
that
would be at once synthetic and global, from the point of view of the
so-called
Arab-Muslim tradition.
