Since
we moved to our new premises in March 2019, our CALEM Institute
in Marseille has welcomed more than 400 visitors from more than twenty
countries, including more than fifty refugees, asylum seekers and
migrants, LGBT+ individuals that we have advised, supported, hosted, or
who participated to our various
local activities.
This was possible due to the application of our sustainable social model
(independent and autonomous), self-managed (participation in the visibility of
several local partner associations: gender, migrations, disabilities,
meditations...) and self-supported (income generated by our training,
publications, civic actions, or by the location of our premises when not
used by our community).
Finally, we also organized activities at the CALEM Institute (Marseille)
open to all, such as: retreats, individualized training, psycho-spiritual consultations,
religious ceremonies opened to all, blessings of marriages ...
We
had the pleasure to launch this year the third level of our training
dedicated to progressive imam-as from Europe and elsewhere:
In addition, CALEM continues to be regularly consulted internationally by
governments and foundations, in Europe or worldwide, mainly regarding the
status of refugees and the training of imams (Muslim leaders). Since 2008,
CALEM has (co)supervised dozens of publications, training and public events,
in different languages and in more than thirty countries (Europe but also
North, South Africa, Middle East, Americas, Asia of South East).
CALEM received the SOS homophobia award in 2010, was supported by the
European Council in 2012, was an advisor to the British court of justice for
the status of refugees, was an advisor to the French government on the law on
marriage for all, and adviser on the constitution of ILGA Africa (the largest
LGBT organization in the world), and continues to work for inclusive societies
through progressive representation of Islam, in collaboration with our
international movement.

The CALEM Institut offers you inclusive trainings, on the basis of scientific research.
Now in France, after having founded the first European inclusive mosque,
we have two progressive and inclusive Islamic structures (in Paris and Marseille) which are members of
our international movement.
Note
that on December 1, World AIDS Day, it was the 10th anniversary of our
educational documentary on the situation of children facing the
HIV pandemic around the world:

Last December, at the University of Manchester, we officially announced the
launch of our latest book by Amsterdam University Press: "Homosexuality,
Transidentity and Islam".
CALEM then took part in the international symposium on interreligious
dialogue between Jews and Muslims, on gender policies, in Europe and in North
Africa. An event organized by Adi Bharat, coordinator of the JMRN network,
doctoral student in human sciences and translator of this latest book from
French to English.
This year in 2019, our Cabinet was honored to participate to dozens of intersectionnal activities,
in France and elsewhere.
