CALEM    Institute



You have the desire to commit yourself to a progressive, universally inclusive Islam, adapted to our modern socio-politic reality, and based on humanistic values?

Detailed programs of our trainings by email.

This year, participants to the Progressive Islamic Training (PIT) come from a dozen different countries. Our meetings ("halaqat" in French, English and Arabic) take place mainly on Skype, but also, three times a year, at the CALEM Institute (Marseille, France):

This year again (August 2018 - May 2019) , the CALEM Institute offers you the opportunity to benefit its trainings, on the basis of renowned studies, in relationship to the reform of our representations of contemporary Islam, respecting human rights and towards universally egalitarian societies.

The CALEM publishing (a structure that has existed since the beginning of the 2000s) are intended to propose a rich catalog of references dealing with theological, sociological, sexual and cultural themes, particularly in relation to Islam, so-called "Arab" cultures, feminisms, homosexuality and trans-identities.
Our benefits are entirely devoted to our future projetcs. The CALEM publishing declines an editorial line inscribed on three axes.

Our latest Islmic feminist publication (150 p.) :

AUP (Amsterdam University Press) accepted to translate and publish one of our academic study.



Thus our best sell, "Homosexuality, transidentity and Islam: a systematic and systemic study", is under translation and shall soon be published inch'Allah in Dutch and English but also in Spanish, Hindi, Urdu and Arabic.
